Surface Design Solutions

Overview
This loft floor was severely pitted, not level in areas and previously painted with a polyurethane paint. As is common during the conversion of a building of this type into condo units, large patch areas were visible where plumbing was installed.

Objective
The objective was obvious: Level the areas that needed to be leveled and cover the unsightly pits„design a floor consistent with loft living and add tremendous equity for the homeowner.

Process
First and foremost the paint needed to be removed„a task that required us to improvise and build a ramp for our heavy machinery.

Following the removal of paint we leveled and patched the areas as needed and finished the entire surface with a textured trowel down.

Prior to acid staining the space, we saw-cut designs in the master bedroom, kitchen and great room. We used multiple colors to highlight some of these areas and to add that special finishing touch.

Result
As the pictures show, the floors serve as a dramatic backdrop for the entire unit. They are virtually maintenance free; only requiring the occasional vacuuming or wet mop. The pits that once trapped dirt and felt awkward on your feet are completely gone. This was truly a turn-around like no other.
